Dr. Ali Ashanqeeti

Partner

Founding architect of the GCC's modern oncology ecosystem — physician, hospital builder and national policy leader translating clinical depth into investable strategy.

Ali is a Partner at Bio-nAbler and one of the most accomplished clinical and healthcare-system leaders in the GCC. Over three decades, he has founded major hospitals and oncology centers, pioneered breakthrough therapies in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and shaped the national intellectual property infrastructure underpinning Saudi Vision 2030.

Ali currently serves as Deputy Chief Executive Officer for Intellectual Property Administration at the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property (SAIP), where he leads the largest sector of Saudi Arabia's national IP authority across patents, trademarks, copyrights, industrial designs and integrated circuits. Under his leadership, the authority cleared the patent backlog, reduced first-office-action time to under six months, deployed the region's first AI-based IP examination platform, and completed the first comprehensive study quantifying the impact of the IP ecosystem on Saudi Arabia's national GDP.

From 2019 to 2021, Ali served as Chairman of the Oncology Center at King Faisal Specialist Hospital & Research Center, the largest adult cancer center in Saudi Arabia and among the largest in the MENA region. There he introduced CAR-T cell therapy to the Kingdom and facilitated its local production, established the country's first dedicated breast cancer center, founded the first multidisciplinary molecular oncology board, and led the region's first gene therapy clinical trial for hemophilia.

Earlier, Ali was Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the National Blood & Cancer Center (2010–2018), which he built from a small private clinic into the Kingdom's leading private-sector cancer treatment institution — the first private facility to introduce outpatient chemotherapy and personalized genomic medicine in Saudi Arabia. He has also served as Consultant and Principal Investigator at the King Abdul Aziz City for Science & Technology, and as Medical Director and Founding Chairman of the Cancer Center at King Fahad Medical City, commissioning a 700-bed tertiary complex and spinning out four specialty centers of excellence.

Ali is a Founding Member of the Saudi Hematology Society, the Saudi Oncology Society, and the Saudi Blood & Marrow Stem Cell Society, and has chaired the National Cord Blood Stem Cell Banking Committee and the National Committee for Clinical Trials at the Saudi Food & Drug Authority.

He holds an MBBS from King Saud University — graduating first in the history of the College of Medicine with First Class Honors — and is quadruple-certified by the American Board of Medical Specialties in Internal Medicine, Medical Oncology, Hematology and Pediatrics.
